Dual boot vista uninstall

Drive 2 has Win 7 D: on it. When I first setup Win7 I installed it as a dual boot system. Now I would like to reclaim drive 1 for data storage. The problem is I cannot figure out how to remove the dual boot and make drive 2 D: the boot drive.

To change the default the easy way, try the following: 1 Right click on Computer in the Start Menu or from the desktop and choose properties. Alternatively, if you happen to like command lines: 1 Open a command prompt as an administrator from within Windows 7.

I only needed to use bcdedit to change the name of one of the two Windows 7 OSs since they otherwise both show up with the same name, and to change the order in the boot list so that the primary is listed first. If I only wanted to change the default and the duration of the boot screen or eliminate the boot screen I wouldn't have ever needed to touch bcdedit since that can all be done via Option 1 above.

The repair prodedure will make the Windows 7 partition active and install the bootmanager and boot data base needed to start Windows 7. Thanks for the reply. Note: Be careful when attempting to format as formatting would make you lose all the files in the partition. Select the partition which has Vista and that you are not selecting the partition which has your data if any.
